World Harp Congress Spectrum 2023

World Harp Congress Spectrum is a new online project from the World Harp Congress, aimed at promoting contemporary harp repertoire and young professional harpists alike. Artists aged 35 and under may send in videos of works written in or after the year 2000, between 3-6 minutes in length. Composer-approved excerpts are allowed and it’s not necessary to record a premier. Selected videos will be featured on the WHC Vimeo hub for a year, co-creating an online resource to discover new harp works.

“The pandemic challenged us all, of course”, says WHC Artistic Director Isabelle Perrin, “but also caused us to advance as we found ways to overcome our difficulties. We learnt it was possible to teach online, audition and compete online, exchange online…and now we’re in a hybrid age with more possibilities than ever before. The WHC Spectrum is a new way to develop what have been the Congress’s goals from the start: to promote the exchange of ideas, stimulate contact, and encourage the composition of new music for the harp.”

WHC Spectrum has two application deadlines a year, the first one being January 31 2023! All details of how to apply can be found here on the WHC website.
