Camac Harpen Nederland: Grand Opening Festival

Our 2016-2017 season got off to a flying start with the launch of our exclusive distribution for the Netherlands. Over the long weekend of February 10th – 12th, we invite you to Rotterdam for the Grand Opening Festival of Camac Harpen Nederland!

We’re looking forward to three days of concerts, workshops, (free) regulation opportunities for your Camac instruments, and some parties in the showroom too. Anneleen Lenaerts, Nikolaz Cadoret and the Tara Minton Trio will all be in residence, as will Alain our technician, and the Camac France and Netherlands teams will of course be out in force.

The festival opens @ Camac Harpen Nederland at 10AM on Friday, February 10th. Throughout the weekend, seize your chance to check out our extensive exhibition…first come, first served!

At 4PM, Camac President Jakez François will give a lecture about the construction of our harps; between 5 and 7PM you can enjoy an opening reception, with jazz music by Carina Backhuijs. We will then all proceed to the Ro-Theater, a short walk from the store, for a gig with the Tara Minton Trio.

You can then go to bed late and rise early to learn how it’s done from Tara herself; to begin Saturday, February 11th, she will give a jazz harp workshop in the Camac showroom from 10-midday. You do not have to bring a harp – to borrow one of ours, please contact Sabine Meijers to reserve. After lunch, Anneleen Lenaerts will give a masterclass from 2-5PM.

We will hold another reception, with cocktails (any excuse) in the store from 5-7PM, followed by a recital by Anneleen at De Waalse Kerk. This promises to be a stunning evening with one of the most celebrated concert harpists in the world, who has also just signed a long-term contract with Warner Classics.

Sunday, February 12th will be the lever harp’s turn to shine! Nikolaz Cadoret is one of its most exciting exponents, with a fascinating range of projects, fusing the instrument’s traditional identity with jazz, electronica  and other contemporary musics. He’ll give a workshop about Breton music @ Camac Harpen Nederland from 10AM – midday, and an afternoon concert at Het Nieuwve Institut at 4PM. Get ready to be amazed by his virtuosity and creativity! He gives voices to the lever harp you never dreamed possible, but which once you have heard, you could not imagine being without.

Throughout the day’s programme, our Camac exhibition will be open at the store, The entire Grand Opening Festival is free of charge, subject to reservation. Please sign up via the online form – if you don’t speak Dutch, as ever drop us a line and we will be happy to help you out. You should also use this form to book a free regulation of your Camac harp.

We look forward to seeing you in Rotterdam!
